Green Valley’s Defensive Pistol is one of the newer shooting disciplines at Green Valley's Hallsville range, but the International Defensive Pistol Association already has a long history with Green Valley.

Defensive pistol as a sport stresses the use of practical equipment, including full charge service ammunition, in solving simulated “REAL WORLD” self-defense situations people may encounter.

Defensive pistol matches require the use of practical (concealed carry type) handguns and holsters, truly suitable for self-defense.

The goal of defensive pistol is to test the skill of the individual, not the equipment.

As an affiliate of the International Defensive Pistol Association, we offer a competition that standard factory production service pistols like; Beretta 92F’s, Glock 17’s, can compete equally, in the stock service pistol class.

For single action 9 MM or 40 cal pistols, modified for carry only, the enhanced service pistol class.

The 1911 style single stack 45’s modified for carry, NOT COMPETITION, are in the custom defensive pistol class.

For wheel gunners, there is the stock service revolver.

The courses of fire reflect practical and realistic situations, simulating potentially life threatening encounters or test skills that may be needed to survive one.

You may compete in one local (club) IDPA match without being a member of IDPA.

We normally offer four different stages, which make use of many props and even various vehicles to shoot from and around.

Monthly match registration is from 9 AM to 10 AM, shooting starts at 10 AM.
