Columbia Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club has range complexes in both Columbia and Hallsville (10 miles N of Columbia). The Columbia facility (our original location) is a collection of ranges for rifle and pistol shooting. Ranges vary from an indoor 50-foot to a 200-yard with covered firing line. There's hunter silhouette, pepper-poppers, falling plates, barricades, a moving target and a couple of ranges equipped with turning targets.
Our Hallsville facility has 8 ranges, with an additional 5 now being built, plus our offices and a brand-new clubhouse / classroom building. (If you've ever seen footage of the Bianchi Cup on TNN's American Shooter, you've seen our Hallsville facility.) There's a couple of moving target ranges, a falling plate range, barricades, a couple of 50 yarders, and a multi-purpose 200 where an amazing variety of fun stuff happens, as evidenced by the perforated car bodies.
The Past: Green Valley started in the late 1930's as a group of local shooters who joined forces to have a little fun with a shared passion: Sport shooting. The goal of the group was to encourage sport shooting, provide instruction in safe handling & marksmanship & "to forward the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play & self-reliance which are the essentials of good sportsmanship & the foundation of true patriotism." A really good place to shoot, as well!
The Present: Today, we're MSSA-affiliated and 100% NRA. We offer Missouri Hunter Education courses, NRA Basic Marksmanship training, both beginning and advanced practical courses for civilian, police, military groups and individuals. Cowboy-shoots just for fun. We put on regular matches in conventional (bullseye), silhouette, Action pistol (Bianchi Cup Style Shooting) and IDPA, ranging from Club shoots, through State & Regionals, right up to the NRA National Action Pistol Championship - the Bianchi Cup. Green Valley puts on the Rifle & Pistol matches for the Show-Me State Games, hosts the Glock Regional Classic & each year teaches 4 dozen of the brightest High School students in Missouri (plus their teachers!) to safely shoot rifles, pistols & shotguns as our contribution to the Missouri Conservation Honors Program.
The Future? We're building it right now. We're more than just a 100% NRA Club... Green Valley is the only recipient to-date of a Friends of NRA Range Development Grant. We're working for rifle ranges out to 1000 meters. Improved competitive events. Expanded indoor facilities, for year round sport shooting. The best private Shooter's Education and Training Program in the country. We also intend to continue being the very best place our members have ever had to shoot. Right in the middle of Missouri, right in the middle of America.

A Club History by Steve McGhee
Columbia Green Valley Rifle &Pistol Club was originally (and somewhat informally) organized in the mid-to-late 1930's by a small group of Columbia-area shooters that wanted to insure they would always have a place to shoot, so they bought a piece of ground to do just that.
All this fun with their guns was soon interrupted by a much more serious shooting event: World War II. Club affairs were pretty much put 'on hold' during the war, & for some period thereafter.
The 'modern' Club was Incorporated in 1956, with range facilities just off Rogers Road, Northeast of Columbia (Map and Directions). For many years Conventional ("Bullseye") shooting events were the mainstay of the calendar, until finally NRA Action Pistol & IPSC / USPSA programs found a home at the Club through revolution in the finest American tradition: the vote. The Club has been adding shooting disciplines ever since, with the only serious limiting factors being the interest & enthusiasm of the Club members.
Our latest major milestone came in August of 1994, when Green Valley purchased the Hallsville range facilities which serve as home to the NRA National Action Pistol Championship (the Bianchi Cup) & the Chapman Academy of Practical Shooting. We're still growing, still chewing out the X rings, still keeping it safe, still looking towards the future with confidence and back on the past with pride.
Feel free to come out to Green Valley soon and add a little of your own history to the Club.
